Movie Quotation: Kate & Leopold

Friday, August 31st, 2007

[while at dinner, JJ has been quoting Boheme to Kate. As Leopold leaves, he decides to correct JJ’s errors]

Leopold:
By the way. There is no “Andre” in Boheme. It’s Rodolfo. And though it is performed in France, it is played in French just as it is written in Italian. Goodnight, Kate.

[He leaves. Charlie grins at JJ and Kate and then follows]

Charlie:
We have a saying in the McKay house: “You shake and shake the ketchup bottle, none will come, and then a lot’ll.”

Hal Samson Blake:
He’s the dumbest human being I ever saw. Every time he opens his mouth he subtracts from the sum total of human knowledge.

“Xia dao Gao Fei” Quotation

Friday, August 31st, 2007

[Deano and Chung are staring hard at each other and it’s driving Deano crazy]

Deano:
What are you looking at huh?

Chung:
I am allowed to look.

Deano:
Oh yeah?

Chung:
I’m not scared of you.

Deano:
[Deano’s ready to fight so he jumps out of his vehicle and orders Chung to get out too] Get out! Get the f*ck out!

Chung:
We’re on a job.

Deano:
Take me one minute to break you. Scared?

Virgin:
See anything you like?

Jeff:
Nothing. Maybe just a few scraggly black hairs.

Jeff:
Well! Masturbate in hell!

Chung:
[Jeff gets into a fight with Hoodlum, the Thailand crime boss and after escaping Hoodlum’s thugs, the group tries to consider what their options are] We’ve had it! That bastard runs the whole damn city! There’s no other choice, we’ve gotta kill him.

Jeff:
And what good’s that? Can’t kill his whole gang.

Mona:
[to Sam] Do you think you could offer him more interest on the $40,000?

Sam:
That won’t work. It’s our lives he wants not money.

Chung:
Are you crazy? Think he’d refuse money?

Jeff:
Money? He’s got loads. I made him lose face!

Sam:
[Sam has a plan to pay off the loan to Hoodlum] Hey I’ve got an idea, listen up.

Mona:
What is it?

Jeff:
Rob a bank?

[everyone is silent when Jeff says this]

Jeff:
Is that it?

Sam:
I think it’s a great plan. If we pull it off, we’re rich. And we can go anywhere.

Mona:
What? Us rob a bank? Sam wake up.

Chung:
Why not? It’s worth a shot.

Jeff:
Yeah, well you guys just keep dreaming. Forget about it. We’re in enough sh*t.

Sam:
Waht the hell can we do?

Jeff:
Why’d you take the cash? Huh?

[Jeff is so frustrated at the situation, he gets up from the table and leaves]

Jeff:
.

Virgin:
See anything you like?

Jeff:
Yeah, I saw a couple of lice puking.

Movie Quotation: Vagrant Story

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Callo Merlose:
[discussing Sydney’s intentions] It is sad…

John Hardin:
What is?

Callo Merlose:
Even if he can see the past and clasp the truth, how are we to know if he speaks it? If he can push us to believe anything, how do we tell truth from falsehood?

John Hardin:
Why single him out? Everyone lies, surely you know that. Whether they are Dark sorcerers or corrupt clergy, they all lie, and we believe. Am I wrong?

Grissom:
Please, a moment. My body is not… cooperating.

[he sees Ashley]

Grissom:
Y-you!

Tieger:
I am sorry, Brother. We cannot help you now.

Grissom:
What… what is happening?

Neesa:
Grissom, you have left this coil. The Dark has filled you; you have joined the cold ones!

Grissom:
[begins to tremble] An ironic fate. I suppose it is better than the endless wand’ring… but to happen upon your own corpse!

[Grissom then falls to his knees, buries his head in his hands. He screams.]

A Voice:
Kill… Kill them all.

Grissom:
Wh-who speaks?

A Voice:
It is bitter…lonely… They must join us… Kill them!

Grissom:
The walls! The walls speak?

A Voice:
Your friends, they dream of killing you. They would steal your body! Kill! Kill them, Grissom!

[at that, Neesa and Tieger move towards Grissom, weapons drawn]

Grissom:
My flesh… is mine, and mine alone!

[Grissom suddenly leaps over their heads and runs out the door]

Neesa:
[running after him]

[shouts]

Neesa:
Grissom!

[Ashley tenses as Teiger decides whether to deal with him or run after his brother, but then follows Neesa out of the Undercity. Ashley relaxes.]

Commander Grissom:
Where did he go?

Jan Rosencrantz:
Through the wood, he says. You will follow him?

Commander Grissom:
I must avenge the foul murder of my brother, Duane.

Jan Rosencrantz:
Of course you must. But be wary, your foe is strong.

Commander Grissom:
God is stronger.

Müllenkamp Cultist:
You fools think the Dark will bend to you?

Commander Grissom:
We are prelates of the Lord, scum. We are not here to bend aught, we are come to cleanse.

Ashley Riot:
Rosencrantz, was it? Your words bear much meaning.

Jan Rosencrantz:
Please, my friend! I speak only the truth.

Ashley Riot:
Yet, you have no evidence.

Jan Rosencrantz:
For that, you must search.

Ashley Riot:
[turns to walk away] I will cut you, next we meet. Leave the city before sundown if you value your life.

“Vagrant Story” Quotation

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Romeo Guildenstern:
The Dark is formless and invisible. It invades the body like a plague, an unseen visitor. Yet those it taints become… undying.

Commander Samantha:
“Undying?”

Romeo Guildenstern:
Yes. They do not die.

Commander Samantha:
But… he did die. Turned to dust. Leaving no trace. Did he not?

Romeo Guildenstern:
What is death? Is it the ruination of the flesh? Surely, that is death, but it is only one facet of the truth. True death… is the death of the soul.

Commander Samantha:
And theirs is not a true death?

Romeo Guildenstern:
Even should their flesh crumble to decay, their souls will wander eternally. The undying of LeĆ” Monde do die. But, it is… an incomplete death.

Ashley Riot:
[listening from afar] “An incomplete death”…

Romeo Guildenstern:
Trapped in purgation, they yearn for life. Thus, they seek bodies without souls. And the “corpses that walk” are born. They say the howl of the north wind is the cry of the wandering souls.

Ashley Riot:
Reinforcements? I am the reinforcements.

Quotation from the 1969 Movie “Queimada”

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Sir William Walker:
Gentlemen, let me ask you a question. Now, my metaphor may seem a trifle impertinent, but I think it’s very much to the point. Which do you prefer - or should I say, which do you find more convenient - a wife, or one of these mulatto girls? No, no, please don’t misunderstand: I am talking strictly in terms of economics. What is the cost of the product? What is the product yield? The product, in this case, being love - uh, purely physical love, since sentiments obviously play no part in economics.

[general laughter]

Sir William Walker:
Quite. Now, a wife must be provided with a home, with food, with dresses, with medical attention, etc, etc. You’re obliged to keep her a whole lifetime even when she’s grown old and perhaps a trifle unproductive. And then, of course, if you have the bad luck to survive her, you have to pay for the funeral!

[general laughter]

Sir William Walker:
It’s true, isn’t it? Gentlemen, I know it’s amusing, but those are the facts, aren’t they? Now with a prostitute, on the other hand, it’s quite a different matter, isn’t it? You see, there’s no need to lodge her or feed her, certainly no need to dress her or to bury her, thank God. She’s yours only when you need her, you pay her only for that service, and you pay her by the hour! Which, gentlemen, is more important - and more convenient: a slave or a paid worker?

“Underground” Quotation

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

[the Skater walks up to a tank. Eric Sparrow and a Russian guard are sitting against it. The guard is passed out; Eric is noticeably drunk and holding a vodka bottle]

Eric Sparrow:
Wassuuuuup?

[pause]

Eric Sparrow:
Me and Vladimir here are feeling *good* tonight!

[pause]

Eric Sparrow:
Heh-he-he-he-hey… your license good in Moscow?

[he stumbles]

Eric Sparrow:
Ol’ Vlad told me it was ok if we take a test spin…

[Eric takes the keys to the tank from the guard and starts climbing up to the entrance to the tank]

The Skater:
…you can’t be serious.

[the Skater climbs into the tank, as Eric sits in the driver’s seat]

Eric Sparrow:
Oh man, Bam’s gonna be so *jealous* when he finds out about this!

The Skater:
Dude, stop it!

[Eric starts up the tank, and the two fall back with a jerk. As the Skater tries to stop the tank, Eric climbs back out and stands on the top of the tank]

Eric Sparrow:
*Whooooooooooooo!* Yeah, c’mon! On to the bridge!

[He sings a charge theme]

Eric Sparrow:
Do a Smith grind, man, *whoo!*

[Eric looks forward, and sees the museum directly ahead. He blanches, drops his vodka bottle, and jumps off, leaving the Skater behind]

[Bam Margera is standing on a quarterpipe set, watching Russian tanks drive by, transfixed. Tony Hawk, the Skater and Tony are standing behind him]

Bam Margera:
Mmmm, tanks… aw tank-look at these tanks… *Damn*, look at these tanks…

Tony Hawk:
What’s up? Aren’t you stoked by getting Best New Pro?

The Skater:
Well… it’s not a done deal yet. It’s pretty close between me and Eric.

[Eric Sparrow skates up onto the set to join the others]

Eric Sparrow:
Sup, guys?

[pregnant pause]

Eric Sparrow:
Listen, I’ve been thinkin’, we can’t keep this up. Remember how I used to torch action figures with ya? I - I acted like a dork, I’m sorry, I got carried away.

[Eric extends his hand for a handshake. After much hesitation, the Skater returns the gesture]

Todd the Manager:
[in a mocking tone] Aww, I’m touched, really! Hehe, haaa…

[normal]

Todd the Manager:
Now get out there in front of those cameras and earn your keep!

Bam Margera:
It’s so good, we can’t go skating right now, look at these *tanks*! Damn!…
