Kayvan Novak impersonates different characters in the show Fonejacker, where he plays the leading role: a fictitious prank caller who calls unsuspecting members of the public. The show is accompanied with pictures of people featuring animated cut-out mouths, in a style similar to Monty Python animations. Scenes using hidden filming accompany the show, with the Fonejacker in the street calling a nearby company. His trademark uniform is a red and white balaclava and sunglasses (the balaclava was black in the Pilot).

Whilst Kayvan Novak’s appearance is not seen as the Fonejacker, he appears during Mr Doovdé’s calls as a model advertising various items including DVD players and for dfs.

Each episode start in similar fashion, with a definition of “fonejack” (to seize control of a telephone conversation by farce esp - to divert it from reason and logic), followed with a scene where Mr Doovdé calls Directory Enquires from an American payphone. Unexpectedly, episode five was headlined by Mike, instead of Mr Doovdé.

The final episode of the first series revealed that two callers had previously been fonejacked by George, implying that the Fonejacker series 2 does not inform the victim the call was a prank. Not all Fonejacks are included on the show, since those people hadn’t been seen in previous episodes.

The show was originated from a 2006 Comedy Lab pilot; this is a show looking for new talents in comedy. As consequence of its popularity, in 2006 the show was granted a six-part series, which would get broadcast from April 2007 on E4. A five-minute summary of the pilot (titled Fonejacker’s Christmas Message) was broadcast on December 29, 2006 as a Christmas special. Fonejacker: Coming April 2007 - Don’t Pick Up The Phone; such warning was displayed at the end of the Christmas special.

Starting in March, both Channel 4 and E4 started to air a teaser trailer for the upcoming series; the 30 second advert consisted of clips of the pilot. Somehow, the show was put on hold for undisclosed reasons, According to rumours, it would start on June 7 2007, however that didn’t happen. Then, talking spread that the show would start on June 7 2007, that was also false. Faithlessness of some fans notwithstanding, the show would go on; new trailers were issued as proof in June. The new clips showed a television within the Fonejacker’s own flat which broadcasted a news report, even as he proceeded to make his calls: “New sightings of the Fonejacker”. The latest clip invariably ended with the motto Don’t Pick Up The Phone, along with the same E4 website. There was a newer alternative advert, just a few days after that.

Hours before the first show, the Fonejacker rang into Big Brothers Little Brother as Terry Tibbs chatting to a girl called Carrie about a Rolls Royce. However, no mention was made of Fonejacker; thus, presenter Dermot O’Leary was rather bemused. As part of its “over-the-top” advertising, a reminder “Fonejacker Tonight 10-30” was placed throughout the night under E4’s on-screen graphic.

His fan site has many soundboards, im quite particular to the fonejacker sound board that features Mr Doovde, this one always makes me giggle.

The first show was broadcast on July 5, 2007 at 10-30pm, and was the first edition of Fonejacker to use strong profanity.Starting from the 9th of September 2008, the second series was broadcast. It remains a mystery if a third series will ever get commissioned.
